Regional Human Development Index – 2012 (RHDI) is an integral indicator characterizing the achievements of the regions of Ukraine in the field of human development. It is calculated with the Methods of  Ptoukha Institute for Demography and Social Studies of NAS of Ukraine. The Methods was developed in 2001. It was updated in 2012 (full text) approved by Resolution of the joint meeting of NAS of Ukraine and the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine. The Index includes 33 indicators reduced in 6 subindexes (for some aspects of human development, which are: the reproduction of population, social environment, comfortable life, welfare, decent work,  education). Subindexes form a single integral indicator for a particular region of Ukraine. RHDI published by the Institute on a regular basis, that allows to monitor changes in dynamics. The results of calculations can be used to monitor and evaluate the progress of human development in the regions, it can be useful for the identification of problems and for  creating social and economic policy at the national and regional levels.
